Steam Traps & Valves
Thermodynamic Traps
The Thermodynamic Steam Trap is simple and compact with a single moving part (disc) which opens to discharge condensate and closes in the presence of steam. Body materials available are Stainless and Alloy Steels for pressures up to 3,600 psig. Widely used on higher pressure drip applications and critical tracing applications (where condensate back-up is not permitted).
Rugged design and excellent for use with superheated steam
Operation is easy to check due to distinct cyclic operation
Single model operates over a wide pressure range in contrast to mechanical traps
Self-draining when mounted vertically to prevent freezing
Thermostatic Traps
They are extremely energy efficient and excellent at discharging air allowing steam to enter the system quickly during system startup. Models are available in Stainless and alloy steel for Drip, Tracing, and medium size Process applications. Pressures up to 650 psig.
Superior air venting capability and extremely energy efficient
Single model operates over the entire pressure range in contrast to (F&Ts & IBs)
Considerably Smaller in size than F&Ts & IB traps of similar capacities
Self-draining to prevent freezing (unlike F&Ts and IB traps)
Float and Thermostatic Traps
F&Ts contain a float-operated valve to continually discharge condensate and a thermostatic air vent which discharges air. Body materials available are Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, Cast Steel, & Stainless Steel for pressure up to 450 psig. F&Ts are the most commonly used trap for the majority of process applications. These traps are also suitable for drip applications on pressures 30 psig & below.
F&Ts quickly respond to load and pressure changes
Discharge large amounts of air present at start-up which allow steam to quickly enter the system.
Inverted Bucket Traps
These traps use an inverted bucket as a float device to control the opening and closing of the plug and seat to discharge condensate. Body materials available are Cast Iron and Stainless for pressures up to 450 psig. The top-mounted discharge orifice makes them less susceptible to clogging from dirt and debris. Primarily used for drip applications but may be considered for process applications when air venting is not critical.
Rugged and simple design and service life often exceeds other style traps.
Top-mounted discharge orifice less susceptible to failure from dirt and debris
Universal Style Steam Traps
The UC450 Series QUICK-CHANGE Universal Trap-Connector System with multiple choices for trap modules and connectors are used in steam systems where a simplified and economical maintenance program of steam traps is desired. These Universal Style quick replacement steam traps can be used on steam supply lines as well as for tracing and small process applications. They are commonly used in colleges & universities, hospitals, chemical plants, petrochemical refineries, paper mills and other industrial facilities.
Clean Steam & Sanitary Traps
Sanitary Steam Traps are designed to offer free flow-through internal passages by incorporating very smooth internal finishes (20-25 Ra). For periodic passivation and sanitation of the system, these traps offer a tri-clamp connection on the body to allow for removal of the thermal element.
Clean Steam Traps are steam traps designed for similar functionality as the sanitary traps, but do not offer the same level of surface finish.
Bi-Metallic Steam Traps
The WPN Series Bi-Metallic Steam Traps are used in steam tracing, steam main drips and non-critical process equipment. They can be used with superheated steam or on outdoor applications that are subject to freezing. The WPN Series Traps are available in multiple sizes and pressures up to 2,260 PSI.
Steam Manifolds
SDM Series manifolds are used for steam distribution TO the tracing system and CCM Series for condensate collection FROM the tracing system. Commonly used in chemical and petrochemical facilities as well as in other industrial plants that have multiple tracing applications. Manifolding the steam distribution and condensate collection system not only cuts down on installation and maintenance costs, but also provides freeze protection. SDM Series manifolds come standard with integral, piston-style isolation valves; integral isolation valves are optional on CCM Series. FM Series manifolds are available in standard Fabricated Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel deigns, or can be custom built to meet specific application needs.
Radiator Traps
Referred to as radiator traps because the quick-disconnect pipe design is found on most radiators on 2-pipe steam heating systems. TA models have right angle discharge and the TS Type is straight-through. Their excellent air-handling capabilities and economical cost make them a great choice for air vents on heat exchangers or for steam trap applications on OEM equipment. Contains an extremely rugged precision-welded Stainless Steel thermal element which is highly resistant to waterhammer.
Sump Drainers
The Sump Drainer uses the same internal mechanism as the standard PMP models. The piping configuration is such that the liquid is discharged vertically out the top as opposed to horizontally out the side. This allows the unit to be easily positioned inside of a sump area. Condensate or water from the sump enters the tank through a stainless steel low resistance check valve. This unit is capable of operating with a maximum motive pressure of 150 PSIG using steam, air, nitrogen or other pressurized gas as the motive force.
Float Type Liquid Drainers
Typically used in process applications for draining condensate from air for other gases. If a Float Type Liquid Drainer is selected, typically it is necessary to add a Balancing (or Equalizing) Line to allow any air or gases trapped in the drainer to escape. If the Balancing Line is not installed, these gases can prevent proper operation by air-binding the trap.
Guided Float Liquid Drainers
The WLD1800 and WLD1800R Drainers contain a stainless steel float and hardened stainless steel seat and disc to drain out liquids from pressurized piplines, tanks, and vessels without the loss of the pressured gas. Available in either a repairable (WLD1800R) or a non-repairable (WLD1800) version. The all stainless steel construction allows them to be used in extremely corrosive environments.
